I was lucky enough to join in Trekhire's first ever training
weekend to Snowdonia. The trip was arranged with military precision whilst managing
to be unhurried and relaxed at the same time. The accommodation was cosy, warm and
comfortable and the food plentiful and varied. The Trek Hire guides were kind, attentive,
excellent company and very knowledgeable both in trekking skills and in their knowledge
of the local area. Having been on both Everest Base Camp and Kilimanjaro (Machame
Route in Feb 2011) treks, I would venture that the terrain on the Snowdon trip is
at least as challenging as anything you will come across for EBC or Kili. This trip
therefore represents an excellent and very specific training opportunity for these
traditional and similar treks. If just wanting a thoroughly enjoyable experience,
it also satisfies that objective. I wholeheartedly recommend it on all levels and
wish Trek Hire the very best with their new itinerary.

Snowdon is one of the most beautifully preserved areas in Britain, popular with both climbers and walkers alike. The views from the higher points of this region are truly breathtaking but the only way to see them is to reach those higher points! Which is why we have decided to expand on our training days and offer people a little bit more of a challenge!
During your stay in North Wales, you will be looked after by two of our guides, Harvey and Simon. Both men have many years experience walking and climbing in this region and they have selected a particularly challenging but most of all, enjoyable route, taking in some well known landmarks that this area has to offer.
On arrival in Snowdonia, you will book into your accommodation where you can freshen up and the two guy’s will prepare an evening meal unless you would rather visit one of the local public houses for something to eat and a drink!
If you are training to do a trek, the topics below will be covered over the weekend
The first day will be a rather leisurely start hoping to reach the start point at 9 am.
Sunday is summit day on Snowdon (weather permitting) this day is an early start, hoping to reach the starting point at 8 am.
Full Itinerary will be provided on payment of deposit
Grade SNOWDON
PEAK DISTRICT
The cost of this trip is £150 per person (£130 if you are making your own way there). The days are limited to 10 people so be sure to book your place early. A deposit of £100.00 will be required at least two weeks prior to departure.
The cost includes:
- Travel to and from Snowdon (Minibus)
- Accommodation during your stay
- Breakfast, Sandwiches for the day and an Evening meal
- Two guides
- Any equipment that you need to borrow can be supplied by Trek Hire UK

Arrive back in Surrey on the Sunday at 8 pm (depending on how long we stop for breaks and traffic conditions)
These weekends can only go ahead on the basis that we have 10 people taking part (8 absolute minimum)
A big thank you to all of those who took part in our Snowdon Training Weekend, it was a great success. A big well done to you all, particularly, Hannah and John (training for Macchu Pichu) who were newbies to the mountains and my two guides Harvey and Simon who did a great job looking after us and showing us all some wonderful places to walk. Look forward to doing it all again very soon!
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how much I appreciated this weekend.
From start to finish everyone was amazing, I couldn’t have wished for better people to help me along my way. Each and every person I met over the 3 days were so welcoming and friendly, I’d recommend you to anyone. It was such an experience for me and looking back, I'm so glad I took part (and even more amazed that I actually managed to do it!). Simon was an absolute rock for me, hanging at the back and encouraging me all the way. The organising and planning of the trip could not have been any better! Harvey was so full of knowledge I could have listened to him all day.
A massive thank you to Mick and Elaina for lending me everything that I needed, it was very much appreciated.

The Peak District weekends are the same format as the Snowdon weekends with the following changes.
Your accommodation will be at a local YHA (youth hostel)
On the Saturday, we will walk the classic Kinder Round, approx 18 mile route around the Kinder Scout Plateau.
Sunday will be a 10 mile ridge walk, starting and finishing in Edale and taking in Mam Tor. We aim to complete this section by 1500 hrs allowing plenty of time to travel home.
